Profile...
The Swede Hill neighborhood is located
near downtown Austin, TX, with a rich history, and diverse makeup.
Settlement of the area began in the 1870's by Swedish immigrants and a few
examples of the early architecture still remain. Today, the
neighborhood is comprised of many older and newer structures and is home to
an eclectic mix of residents.
Swede Hill Neighborhood
Association is dedicated to managing and vocalizing the interests of the
neighborhood owners and residents. It holds monthly meetings,
participates in broader neighborhood and City organizations and initiatives,
and generally seeks to ensure continued, thoughtful growth and improvement of
the neighborhood.

Swede Hill Holiday Party and Hot Chocolate Contest... December 10th, 2017... Winner Marla!
A fun neighborhood gathering to celebrate the season, spread a little holiday cheer, and sample a few sips... and why not make a contest out of it?!
Several of our neighbors whipped together their favorite concoctions, along with a
few tasty treats to tickle the taste buds, and setup in Swede Hill Park to brave the scrutiny of their fellow contestants and samplers. It was a beautiful day for neighbors, kids and pets to
share some smiles, stories, and nibbles. It might be argued that sampling was more fun than voting, but at the end of the day, there was a winner to declare. BIG CONGRATS to MARLA
TORRADO for coming up with the neighbors' favorite blend of chocolaty liquid gold... no doubt, she has set the bar for next years' showdown. For more images from the day, click the image to

Swede Hill Mulch-A-Thon Park Day... March 4th, 2017... Another Success!
The Swede Hill Mulch-A-Thon Park Day—part of the
Austin
Parks Foundation's It's My Park Day Spring event—was a huge success.
The rains held off long
enough for a group of our neighborhood volunteers to
shovel and spread countless barrows of fresh bark mulch amongst the drip
lines of the giant heritage trees in our Swede Hill Park. Special
thanks to the volunteers for giving-up a couple hours of their time.
Very special thanks to the organizers for fetching tools and give-aways,
supplying refreshments and general good cheer. And finally, a big
shout-out to Austin
Parks Foundation for providing the mulch, tools, t-shirts and more! Most
thankful of all are, our beautiful park trees are very appreciative of the
special attention they received this year. For more images from the
day, click the image to the right, or click HERE. |
